BIOGRAPHY

Professor Attila Kardos is a consultant cardiologist in Milton Keynes University Hospital, where he is also the Associate Director of Research and the Director of the Cardiovascular Research Group. He has a Honorary Chair at the University of Buckingham as Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, and holds a Visiting Professorial position at both Cranfield and Open Universities.

He has been a Honorary Senior Lecturer to the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. He is the director of the Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging Services in Milton Keynes. He has over 25 years of research experience and 32 years of clinical experience of which the last 18 years as a consultant.

Professor Kardos is leading as a chief investigator in National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) portfolio endorsed clinical trials addressing digital technology in the Healthcare System (CHESS, Trial reg number: NCT03448861 £100k) and looking at electrical biomarkers in chest pain assessment (VECTRA-CEB, Trial reg number: NCT03498105 £30k).

He is a Co-I in the Artificial Intelligence in Health and Care Award, awarded £1.4 million by the Department of Health and Social Care, through NIHR, “AI_AWARD02013: Artificial Intelligence to improve Cardiometabolic Risk Evaluation using CT (ACRE-CT). He is also a local PI for other Cardiac CT and stress echocardiography based NIHR endorsed research studies RAPID-CTCA and EVAREST respectively as well as interventional multicentric studies EMPHASIS, PARADIGME-HF, IMPROVE-IT, ORFAN-IV, etc..).

He has published 106 papers in peer-reviewed journals, H-index: 24; Speaker and Invited as well as Keynote speaker at National and International Conferences >120. He has supervised 5 MSc, DPhil/PhD/MD students and the first NIHR LCN TV-SM Cardiovascular Research Fellow in the UK. Professor Kardos is a Fellow of the RCP and the European Society of Cardiology and a member of several International Societies such as EACVI, SCCT, BCS, AHA, ACC, ASE etc.).
